Keynote Speaker

Prof. Dr. Erik Ranschaert, a visiting professor at Ghent University and former president of EuSoMII, delivered a compelling keynote lecture on “AI Implementation in Radiology.” He provided a historical overview, discussed current radiological applications, and highlighted the clinical adoption rates of AI in Europe. Erik also shared insights into new opportunities and the future of AI in radiology, emphasizing the importance of education and sustainability through the NetZeroAICT project.

NetZeroAICT Project

The NetZeroAICT project, an EU and UKRI co-funded research initiative, was showcased as a prime example of how AI can contribute to sustainability in healthcare. Erik explained the project’s goals and the significant strides being made in integrating AI into clinical practice while maintaining a focus on environmental sustainability. The project advocates for developing a novel AI solution that combines deep learning methods with non-contrast CT scans to digitally synthesize contrast, aiming to reduce the environmental and health impacts of contrast-enhanced CTs.
