Internation Day of Radiology 2024

[8 November 2024] This International Day of Radiology, we celebrate the indispensable role of radiographers and radiologists in healthcare. This year’s theme, “Radiographers: Seeing the Unseen”, highlights their critical contributions to accurate diagnoses and enhanced patient care.

Our Contribution: The NetZeroAICT Project

At NetZeroAICT, a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action co-funded by the European Commission and UK Research and Innovation, we aim to reduce the environmental and health impacts of traditional CT scans with innovative AI-driven digital contrast.

Project Highlights:

  • Health Benefits: Traditional CECTs pose risks such as kidney toxicity and allergic reactions. Digital contrast eliminates these risks, making CT imaging safer for patients.
  • Sustainability Aspect: Each year, 180 million CT scans use radiocontrast media (RCM), creating significant waste and CO2 emissions. Our AI technology will generate contrast digitally, omitting the need for RCM. This innovation aims to cut 30% of CO2 emissions and iodine waste from CT scans by 2033, supporting the EU’s NetZero targets.
