Showcasing Progress at ECR 2026: Building a Global CT Repository
We were proud to present our latest progress at ECR 2026, showcasing how the NetZeroAICT Consortium is developing one of the largest CT imaging repositories in the world.
Our poster, “Building a CT Repository at Scale,” highlights the collaborative effort and technological innovation driving this ambitious initiative forward.

What We’ve Built So Far
Through close collaboration across institutions and continents, we have established a powerful and secure infrastructure for large-scale imaging data:
- 10 hospitals connected across multiple continents
- Local pseudonymisation to ensure patient data remains protected
- A secure cloud platform for storage and organisation
- A searchable database enabling efficient data discovery
- AI-supported classification for richer, more usable datasets
- A public dashboard with live updates: https://lnkd.in/dG792bdu
Where We Are Today
Our progress has already surpassed key milestones:
- 1.3 million CT datasets collected, exceeding our original 1 million target
- Up to 10,000 new datasets added every week
- 8 out of 10 sites fully automated and actively contributing
Why It Matters 🌱
NetZeroAICT is about more than building datasets, it’s about enabling real-world impact.
By supporting AI-enhanced, contrast-efficient CT imaging, this repository helps drive:
- ✔️ Safer diagnostics through reduced reliance on iodinated contrast media
- ✔️ Lower healthcare costs
- ✔️ A reduced environmental footprint aligned with Net Zero goals
A Collaborative Achievement
We extend our congratulations to the lead authors, Carlos Santín Carballo, Mathias Engström, Anders Nordell, Erik R. Ranschaert, MD, PhD, and Regent Lee, and to all collaborators whose dedication is making this transformative work possible.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a more sustainable, data-driven future in healthcare.
